Coffee Watch Digital Campaigns: Social Media Summer Fellowship

About Coffee Watch

Coffee Watch is a new, fast growing global NGO campaigning to end deforestation and human rights abuses in the coffee industry. Coffee is the 6th biggest driver of deforestation worldwide and remains rife with exploitation like child labor, human trafficking, and modern slavery. Our mission is simple: make the world better with every cup — by exposing abuses, mobilizing consumers, and pressuring major corporations to change.

In just the past year and a half, Coffee Watch has become a prominent voice online in this space, expanding from 0 to 3.3 million views across all our platforms. Our media coverage has reached hundreds of millions, sparked global attention, and helped shift the conversation on coffee’s hidden human and environmental costs.

About the role

We are now hiring a full-time Digital Campaigns & Social Media Summer Fellow to help sustain and grow this momentum as we expand our global footprint. This is a remote, full-time role with a monthly stipend of $2,400 USD, prorated, reporting directly to the Director of Coffee Watch and working with the Social Media Director.

About You

We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable on camera, has a cheeky and fun sense of humor, and knows how to create engaging social media content. You should be creative and able to take complex topics—like climate issues or human rights—and explain them clearly and in a way that people actually want to watch. Experience with filming, editing, and content creation is important, and you should feel confident both behind and in front of the camera. Most importantly, you care about the issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce and edit short videos, animations, or visual content for advocacy campaigns.
  • Work closely with the team to develop a cohesive storytelling strategy.
  • Support multimedia storytelling for blog posts, reports, and presentations.
  • Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines and advocacy objectives.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Background in film, design, multimedia storytelling, or a related field
  • Experience with video editing software (such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve) and/or graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Figma, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of visual storytelling and its role in advocacy.
  • Ability to translate complex issues into engaging and accessible content.
  • Comfortable and experienced at appearing in front of camera.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; other languages are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of climate, human rights, or sustainability communications.
  • Passion for sustainability, ethical sourcing, and social impact.
  • Self-motivated, creative, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
